To improve the lives of children in the most disadvantaged areas
of the world by using the power of sport and play for development,
health, and peace.
Right To Play trains local community leaders in Africa, Asia, and
the Middle East as coaches to deliver sport and play programs
that promote holistic child development, teach peaceful conflict
resolution skills, and help participants recognize and adopt
healthy lifestyle behavior.
- Increased annual revenue by 64 percent from US$14.2 million
in FY2006 to $23.3 million in FY2007, and served more than
500,000 children worldwide in regular activity (lives touched)
with an additional 200,000 reached through other programs.
- Grew from 48 to 56 international projects, including pilot
activities in China, bringing total reach to 23 countries.
- Created five-year strategic plan with New Profit and Monitor
Group to deepen impact across its global footprint.
- Right To Play collected comprehensive baseline evaluation data
on program impact in Azerbaijan, Liberia, and the Palestinian
territories, demonstrating for program participants improvements
in communication and social skills, a reduction in
violence, and improved relationships with peers and adults.
- As Secretariat of the International Working Group on Sport for
Development and Peace, Right To Play will present its policy recommendations at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The working
group has engaged representatives from more than 50 national
governments to date.

Right To Play’s new five-year strategy will prioritize growth of all
country operations to scale, and focus expansion primarily in
Africa. By 2012, Right To Play plans to serve more than one million
children annually.
