To help U.S. employers benefit from the hidden talent pool that
exists among immigrant professionals, and to equip these underemployed
individuals with the skills and resources necessary to
rebuild their careers in the U.S.
Upwardly Global supports foreign-born professionals by providing
introductions to professional networks, teaching job-search strategies,
decoding corporate America’s customs and practices, and
helping employers conduct interviews across cultures.
- Grew annual revenue by more than 45 percent from $884,000
in FY2006 to $1.29 million in FY2007, with successful corporate
partner renewals, including a deeper partnership with JP
Morgan Chase.
- Increased total jobseekers served by 68 percent from 215 in
FY2006 to 362 in FY 2007, including 225 jobseekers served in
the first full year of operations in New York City.
- Successful job placements resulted in average starting salaries
of $43,500 plus benefits, equaling $17,500 in new income for
each client as a result of the program.
- Upwardly Global met with key players from the 2007 immigration
bill including the offices of House Speaker Nancy
Pelosi, Senator Obama, and a representative from the State
Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration,
among others. The organization is exploring opportunities for a
national policy agenda on immigrant integration.

Upwardly Global plans to launch a research project on the
Canadian marketplace, which has a high percentage of immigrant
professionals. The organization seeks to spark new ideas for program
innovation around creating demand for the immigrant talent
pool and effectively preparing immigrant candidates for presentations
to potential employers.
